Your black muslin cloth is full of 'dandruff' and is disturbing to see and takes away from the beauty of the hibiscus.
(4 years and 356 days ago)Congrats Wayne
(4 years and 358 days ago)nice shot
(4 years and 358 days ago)Congrats
(4 years and 359 days ago)Poetic atmosphere...
(5 years and 13 days ago)............and that has made all the difference
(5 years and 65 days ago)This is one of my most favourite poems ever. The other poem that I LOVE LOVE LOVE is by Thomas Hardy and I put it up for you. Love your photo and that tile is the icing on a well baked cake.
(5 years and 66 days ago)The Man He Killed
BY THOMAS HARDY
"Had he and I but met
By some old ancient inn,
We should have sat us down to wet
Right many a nipperkin!
"But ranged as infantry,
And staring face to face,
I shot at him as he at me,
And killed him in his place.
"I shot him dead because —
Because he was my foe,
Just so: my foe of course he was;
That's clear enough; although
"He thought he'd 'list, perhaps,
Off-hand like — just as I —
Was out of work — had sold his traps —
No other reason why.
"Yes; quaint and curious war is!
You shoot a fellow down
You'd treat if met where any bar is,
Or help to half-a-crown."
Nicely done with focus straight on the chocolate bar, won't write you a great speech, suffice it to say good story.
(5 years and 234 days ago)Thoughtful pose and that blur vignette is exactly what the doctor ordered to keep us looking longer. The eyes over your shoulder adds a creepy kind of flavour (and that is a good thing).
(5 years and 258 days ago)A bit of a different take on the rule of threes and it works! Your title also helps to steer us in the right direction as does your vantage point.
(5 years and 276 days ago)I like the artistic bend to this upload, the grunge adds texture to the mystery and your title ties this into a great little package for the viewer.
(5 years and 276 days ago)I tend to "gush" when a photo touches me. I gush a lot on the photoshopped side of pxyleyes.
(5 years and 279 days ago)I really like the "artistic" bend in this upload. The grunge effect is consistent throughout and makes for a rich and vibrant post with some darkening at the borders yet hue is bright on the broom. This is a photograph that was worked on and not just snapped. The "angry" looking reds are the anchor point that holds us to your photo and placed into the grid line is perfect. Some may mention how the handle may take the eye out of the frame but I would argue that the grunge and textural quality, the simple yet strong solid framing gives us a standout shot. I do think you need to sign this, matte it and frame it!
(5 years and 282 days ago)Try making a copy of the section and placing it on a new layer. Then blur it so the spot disappears and merge it back with the original layer.
(5 years and 286 days ago)Thanks for that.
(5 years and 287 days ago)Nice clarity of the bridge but that bush in the center keeps calling to me. Where was this taken?
(5 years and 290 days ago)The spot is between them, just over their heads. It might not be dust, it might be something else, but there is definitely a spot!
(5 years and 290 days ago)Nice pic. I would have cropped the right side because of the branches in the corner, then cropped a bit of the sky also to balance and to tighten the focus on the trees.
(5 years and 291 days ago)And you have a dust spot between the mum and dad trees, you should erase it. I won't tell.
Well, the building at the right looks right as rain and not failed at all. It could be my dicombuberation of gray matter.
(5 years and 304 days ago)Has a bit of a to the left slant although that building at the right is straight.
(5 years and 305 days ago)I think the slant adds to the photo!
(5 years and 308 days ago)I like your quote....need to write it down. Thanks.
(5 years and 310 days ago)Do you remember, years ago a painting sold for a couple of million dollars? It was an abstract and was drawn by a gorilla? Hmmm, I'm not sure where I'm going with this...I think this could sell for a few million Euros and hung proudly in some CEO's office! I like it and for some reason, it reminds me of yogurt with fruit (strawberries and blackberries) ...!
(5 years and 310 days ago)WHAT ? Where is the failure in this? I think it's great, an abstract on many dimensions.
(5 years and 310 days ago)Clever you....ha ha ha ha...and titles DO MATTER in gallery showings oftentimes making or breaking a sale. Love it.
(5 years and 311 days ago)LOL....and thank you for not ripping my head off.
(5 years and 312 days ago)Hi and thank you for the comparison. Here are my two cents worth, (not that you asked for it, sorry). The honey makes the image busier, more things to take away from the focus, which is supposed to be the bread and thereby it ought to be in sharp focus which the SBS is. We photographers do get emotionally attached to our images and obviously, the honey gives you an emotive pull, but for us peons looking at the image the honey just adds clutter. You do have the pomegranate and cup of tea in the SBS to plump out the story, and most importantly the bread is sharp. Anyhow, this is simply my subjective opinion only and perhaps you might be surprised by the final outcome to see how right you were and how wrong I was...
(5 years and 313 days ago)A story that speaks of love of bread and all the accoutrements that go with bread eating. Had the bread been in better focus it would have jumped out at us more but we do get the story.
(5 years and 314 days ago)Well done Wayne
(5 years and 378 days ago)Nice win, BIG CONGRATULATIONS !
(5 years and 379 days ago)Congrats Wayne, nice shot
(5 years and 379 days ago)hmmm, yes I see the challenge. You have handled it pretty well I would say. Please feel free to critique my images too, we have so much to learn from each other. Thank you.
(5 years and 384 days ago)The patterns of pews in a church, clever you are to see this and shoot it! I think had you composed it with a closer juxtaposition to the second wooden pew marker it may have been visually more compact, but that is strictly my subjective opinion and I bow to your artistry.
(5 years and 385 days ago)Sorry, IT does not take A1 images.....it's YOU who takes the A1 images!.....so there
(5 years and 385 days ago)Not me!
(5 years and 385 days ago)Cool, I really like the presentation of this handy dandy little camera stuck in the back pocket and always at the ready to capture beauty that surrounds us. As the saying goes "it's not the camera , it's the photographer".
(5 years and 385 days ago)Oh my I like how you presented this camera, it really looks loved, a bit humble but clean and loved. Sepia gives it that eternal feel.
(5 years and 385 days ago)Sepia so right for this, simple but effective
(5 years and 386 days ago)Good focus, striking yellow colour that isn't overblown and those diagonal wooden slats add to the overall beauty of your shot.
(5 years and 389 days ago)Congrats on this win.
(5 years and 399 days ago)Well done Wayne
(5 years and 399 days ago)Congrats Wayne for this beautiful eye twister!
(5 years and 400 days ago)It was well worth it!
(5 years and 400 days ago)Having read your comments I went back to the photo to see if there was an illusion here and finally my eyes adjusted and yes, we could be looking down on the bike and not up....FANTASTIC. I love these kinds of shots that stir up my gray matter.
(5 years and 401 days ago)I echo the comments of the others. A great shot - well spotted. Would the shot have been better with less black below the cycle - as much black building as there is sky to balance the shot? Maybe but then it works well as it is.
(5 years and 401 days ago)Really love the minimalism to this dramatic post. The black works so well....top marks in my books.
(5 years and 402 days ago)This is by someone who has an eye for a photo, well done Wayne for seeing and taking this, simplistic but effective
(5 years and 408 days ago)Thought that afterwards
(5 years and 444 days ago)Your welcome Wayne, and thanks for the info
